im just going to start. This week was insane.
- Lisa finished my dress. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen... so probs won't be wearing it much in the mission field. Haha.
- Sister Bushman's tooth was hurting so "daughter of the dentist" on in and diagnosed her with a cavity.. We went to the dentist.. not only was it a cavity, but she got a root canal. That's the second companion in a row. Dang.
- One of the members has this crazy hobby of "free diving" aka he goes scuba diving without the scuba gear/tank. He takes this harpoon gun and dives like 70 feet down underwater, shoots a fish and then hauls the fish and himself back up to the surface WHILE HOLDING HIS BREATH. #thesepeoplearecrazy. This weekend he dove down, shot a fish, went to pull it up and a shark came and tried to take the fish so he PUNCHED the shark. #whoareyou?! He is invincible.
- We had the sister's meeting this week (aka all 54 sisters from the TMM went to McAllen) It was glorious. I think that is how heaven will feel when everyone is together talking about "the good ole days when we were on earth." Haha.
Saturday morning Sister Bushman and I were talking about how we can't let situations around us control our level of happiness. We can always choose to be happy no matter the chaos around us. Like president said at the meeting, "DEJAR DE FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF." It's harder said than done.
Just after we had discussed this we got a text from the zone leaders informing us that the talent show we had been preparing for was cancelled. In my head I was saying,"Are you serious!? We have been practicing our glow-in-the-dark-stick-man-dance all week and we are so ready! WHYYYY?" But then the thought, " You can't control this. Don't let it bring you down. I have something better in store."
We called up the Relief Society President and for three hours she drove us around to find less active members. The whole day was wonderful full of so many blessings that I know were sent extra special because we had a good attitude. One of the blessings was that we received a referal from the missionaries in Florida. It was a woman, Virginia, who just moved here because her husband died recently. The elders helped her and she asked if there were more missionaries like them in Texas... YES. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD. It was so amazing. She is the cutest little lady ever.
Then the crowning moment of blessings was Sunday. We got there early because I had to play the piano for sacrament. I was prelude and in walked Marion, the man we had a lesson with the day previously with. Then as church began Paul, the 20 year old from last week's lesson came. I was so excited.. but then as the sacrament hymn went on I look over and see Kara and Wes, a couple we had been teaching a few weeks ago, walked in without telling us that they were going to come. My jaw dropped and tears of surprise filled my eyes. (this is all happening while I am trying to play the piano). You think it can't get any better? No, it can. After sunday school Sister Soto's husband walked into class because his recently baptized son asked him if he would come to church with him.
The whole transfer we were working so hard and we couldn't see any of the fruits. Then once we decided we were going to have a good day no matter the situation, God took care of everything. Not that he wasn't the first time, but when you are looking and asking for miracles, they seem to be more abundant.
Everyone can make this change. You decide if today is a good day; no one else.
Transfers are tomorrow.. I am guessing I will be leaving because I love Corpus and my companion too much, but who knows. This place really is el cielo. Like Ammon, "I desire to dwell among this people for a time; yea, and perhaps until the day I die." Alma 17:23
To all those starting school soon, I am so glad I am not you. Haha. JK.
