As the year begins and we have our daily tasks constantly pressing on our minds, let us not forget those around us. Our society is a "Hi, how are you doing? ... "Good!" type of place. Even if they aren't good, they respond in that way. The questioner then accepts the answer without thought or noticing body language. Look at the people you communicate with. Chances are, there is something you can do to improve their day. If there is someone who needs a hand, take the second to slow down and help them. It really isn't that inconvenient. Isn't it so much more fulfilling to help those in need? You make lasting friendships. Who cares if you have a perfectly clean kitchen, but no one to enjoy it with? We must all work towards progression, we can't do it alone.
My most favorite teacher read this poem to the class yesterday:
Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.
Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he’s dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.
Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

God uses us to help his children; don't forget his purpose.
